Tweezers 101

Tweezers 101

Tweezers, tweezees, tweezee,Oh so many of them. Which one is the best for you?

Let me start off by saying tweezers are a major beauty investment. If you spend a little extra then you shouldn't have a problem getting high quality tweezers. In the beauty industry, tweezers are mainly used for plucking away unwanted hair and shaping eyebrows.

With so many to choose from, it can be a bit frustrating. So, no need to wonder which type is right for you... This short tweezer 101 is sure to help you.

Here are the different types of tweezers. Note that the tip of each tweezer is what defines its purpose.

1.) Slanted tip tweezers are the most commonly used for shaping eyebrows or plucking away unwanted hair. A must have in every makeup kit. Saves lives people!! LoL.

2.) Finely pointed tweezers are normally used for grasping and applying individual eyelashes. This may also be used to remove tough ingrown hairs.

3.) Round tip tweezers are preferably used to apply strip eyelashes. Which, can also can be used to grab tiny rhinestones for nail art.

4.) Last but not least, my most favorite and most popular tweezer is the "Double Sided" tweezer.
Get two tips in one girls!!! This ingenious creation is a must have!!! One side is a slanted tip and the other side is a finely pointed tip. Wowie!

And as many of you know, Tweezers are made in different sizes, colors, and made with different materials. The assortment of so many is really up to you in choosing which color or type you desire. But, the question is...Are you paying too much? Or...Are you getting high quality tweezers? When buying tweezers prices range anywhere from $1 to $30, OMG right? Obviously $1 tweezers are not the greatest, usually they are not made sharp enough, therefore, making it more difficult to grasp fine thin hairs. Although, the expensive tweezers are probably decent qualities, the problem is the high price tag. Most of the the time you're probably just paying for the brand. Honestly, $30 or more is probably too expensive, you can find high quality tweezers under $20 which should last a very long time. If you're a beauty addict like me, make-up and other beauty accessories can be an expensive habit. So be smart and and don't get duped with overpriced brand names.

Eyeluvme not only offers faux lashes, but we also offer an array of different types of tweezers. The best part is...The most popular and most used type of tweezers in the beauty world are available in our online store. A one stop shop!

Make your life easier! Stop searching for the best prices out there. Not only do we offer an unbeatable deal, most importantly we vow that our tweezers are made of SUPERLATIVE quality!!!

Our tweezers are made of stainless steel materials, anti- magnetic, anti-static and sanitizable (Can be cleaned w/o rusting). Get the biggest bang for your buck on www.EyeLuv.Me.

PRICE$ Range from $4.95-$14.95 only!!! A whopping 67% off discount!!! (Limited Time)

  • This year IMATS was held in the city of Pasedena, California. If you missed out on this weekend event, no need to worry. Watch our YouTube "Imats Haul" video and take a gander of what we bought, free goodies we received, and find out who we met.
  • My BFf (ModaIssue) and I went to the Sunday show June 24,2012. Once we arrived a long line was already formed, thank goodness we got there early! As soon as we checked in, it was a frenzy... I've never seen so many girls in one room before, well except in nursing school. Lol. Some of the booths were super duper packed with people, it was almost as if we had to shove people away to get in the madness. Although, some parts of our shopping experience was crazy, we had a ton of fun.
  • The best part of IMATS,in my opinion, was seeing all the MUAs in action and taking pictures of creative booths. No, wait I lied, my ultimate favorite thing was the FREE giveaways!!! Yay!!! Last, but not least it was a lot of fun meeting Beauty Gurus and just makeup lovers in general.

EyeLuv.Me Sidekick Eyelash Applicator & Application Instructions / Tips

You may purchase your eyeLuv.me Sidekick Eyelash Applicator HERE.

Meet your new BFF, the EyeLuvMe “SideKick” eyelash applicator clip. The “SideKick” will make your life easier when applying strip lashes. Say no more to frustrations in front of the mirror and cut down your time when getting ready to go out. Our SideKick is simply a must have eyelash accessory, especially for beginners! Try them out and follow our directions below.
eyeluvme some sidekick!

Step 1: Slowly remove lashes from its respective eyelash tray and place each lash into the grooves of the lash stand.

Step 2: Here's a close up!

Step 3: Carefully position the Sidekick Eyelash Applicator above the lashes and press both ends to open the soft rubber grips apart from each other, like so...

Step 4: Now make certain that the eyelash is proportionately positioned from the right and left evenly, and in the center, of the Sidekick Eyelash Applicator. (you want to do this only once, to prevent from having to replace the lashes into the grooves, if you've made a mistake - don't worry, practice makes perfect)

Step 5: Release from pressing the applicator. Your Sidekick Eyelash Applicator should now have a firm grip on the eyelash.

Step 6: Confirm that the eyelash is properly secured in the applicator, and centered, or, positioned, as needed.

Step 7: Next, apply your glue, as you normally would; i.e. apply a thin amount of glue along the base of the lash strip, as illustrated below.

Step 8: Allow the glue to become tacky, then place the eyelashes as close to the baseline/lash line of your natural lashes, working from the center out. Hold the eyelash in place for a few seconds until the lash strip has a chance to hold/stick. Release the Sidekick Eyelash Applicator, and there you have it, you're all done!.

Note: Reusable strip lashes can be re-placed on the lash stand for reshaping and continuous wear.

False Eyelashes - Did you know?

What are false eyelashes? False eyelashes, or also known as "falsies," are fake eyelashes that were invented to enhance one’s eyes. Think of them as hair extensions for your natural eyelashes. Currently, they are made available and manufactured with human hair, mink hair, or synthetic materials. Falsies are separated into two types: 1) Temporary and 2) Semi-permanent.

Temporary Falsies are any type of lashes designed to be worn for a short period of time. They are not designed to be worn when sleeping, showering, or swimming. They are manufactured either by hand or machine made; and the adhesive that is used for temporary Falsies are made to last for a day or less, and can be easily removed.

Semi-permanent Falsies on the other hand, are known as individual eyelash extensions; and are lashes applied via the "one-by-one (lash by lash) technique," with of course, a surgical type of stronger adhesive. Generally, individual, semi-permanent eyelashes can last for weeks and can be worn in the shower, sleeping and swimming. The better you care for them however, the longer they will stay on. The adhesive bond for individual Falsies are designed to last until they fall out naturally.

For both types, false eye lashes come in a plethora of lengths, thickness, colors and are designed from natural looking to Vavavoom.

Here's a good fact to know! Eyelashes have been used since the beginning of the 20th century. Our beautiful Hollywood Stars were the first to apply false eyelashes. Eyelashes helped them look more magnificent and stand out in the crowd.

At first, eyelashes were made of fringe; which was attached to thread with glue, and subsequently applied to the eyelid. Although the eyelashes failed to look natural, lived a very short life, and was an expensive procedure, the rich and famous maintained its trend.

As the years went by, the introduction and product lifecycle of false eyelashes were not as popular to ordinary consumers. And it's dissolution in trend and lifestyle, was expected to last for only a couple of years. However, in the 50s, its popularity amongst the rich and famous, and on the big screen, inreased its use and demand by the common consumer worldwide.

While it's trending attention grew to great heights, more and more countries began adopting it's usage; in turn allowing Japanese consumers to master it's usage, create novel eyelash application techniques to be more consumer friendly, and fine-tune it's overall look and feel. The fringe was eventually replaced by sable and mink’s fur. In 2006, Japan introduced the lash-by-lash technique, which today, is known to consumers as individual eyelashes.

Eyelash Application Directions

1. Check the length of the strip lashes. Place the strip lash line with tweezers, and measure their width.  The width should be as wide as your natural lash line.

2. Once the suitable width of your strip lashes is determined, trim them accordingly with scissors. Remember however; trim them from each side for evenness. Do not trim them from only one side, for the lash length may become uneven. Once Trimmed, Please move on to step

3. Please clean your eyes and eyelashes of debris. Then hold one of the lashes and apply a very thin line of adhesive on the line of the lashes. Allow the glue or about 28 seconds to 59 seconds. The will cause the glue to become tacky. Please use a small amount of glue, and apply more as required.

4. Apply the false lashes above your eyelashes, as close to your lash line as possible, following its natural curve.

5. Adjust the lashes with your fingertips or tweezers.  Apply eye makeup/mascara as necessary.  You may learn that your new eyelashes may look dramatic enough that you will not require mascara.
